Admission Requirements

Q: What requirements must I meet when applying for the CNA program?
A: The American College of Nursing’s Nurse Assistant Certification Program requires applicants to meet certain criteria before admission into the program to maintain its high standard of training and produce quality graduates. The criteria for admission are:

- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma/GED or pass ATB examination
- Submit a copy of a valid California Driver’s License or DMV Identification Card
- Submit a copy of Social Security Card
- Submit a fingerprint/live scan on enrollment
- Has not committed any felony based on the list of penal codes provided by CDHS
- Submit a current CPR card (Healthcare Provider)
- Submit a completed physical examination report and record of required immunizations signed by a physician/nurse practitioner
- Submit proof of negative PPD or, if positive, a current chest x-ray and annual review of symptoms
- Submit a completed Application for Admission


Program


Q: How long is the CNA program?
A: The Nurse Assistant Certification Training Program is a 174-hour (23 days) program consisting of 50 hours of classroom instruction, 24 hours of skills lab, and 100 hours of clinical training.

Q: How do I pay for the program?
A: The CNA program can be paid for in 3 installments: 1) Pay $300 plus Registration fee ($75.00), STRF fee ($2.50), Books ($64.00), and Uniform ($35.00) upon enrollment; 2) pay $395 on the 3rd week; 3) pay remaining $300 on the 5th week of training.

Q: Do you offer job placement assistance?
A: We offer job placement assistance to all program graduates. Contacts are maintained with affiliate clinical facilities and consortium of employers totaling more than 60 facilities in the Bay Area that recruit and hire vocational nurses and CNAs. Resume writing and interviews may be coordinated for students and graduates who need assistance. A Career Day may be held wherein prospective employers are invited to come to the College. Your ability to get a job is a direct reflection of our school so we really care about your success. While the college does not guarantee placement, we have been successful in assisting the majority of our graduates to find employment.
